Submitting your site to Directories
It's a good idea to submit your site to relevant directories as well as to search engines. You should only need to do it once, except for Yahoo! (try resubmitting about every three months). For each directory, go to the correct category page for your site and from there click on Add URL.
- Open Directory Project (used by Google, Netscape and many more) - This link brings you to a page that gives you a step by step instruction on how to submit to this directory - with links! very useful.
- National Directory - This site claims that it will submit your website to over 1500 search engines.
- Yahoo! Submit Your Site - The Yahoo! Directory is organized by subject. Most sites in it are suggested to us by users. Sites are placed in categories by Yahoo! editors, who visit and evaluate your suggestions and decide where the sites best belong. We do this to ensure that Yahoo! is organized in the best possible way, making the directory easy to use, intuitive, helpful, and fair to everyone.
- WhatUseek - Submissions to The whatUseek Collection are both human- and machine- reviewed for optimized relevancy and placement.
Sites included in The whatUseek Collection receive preferred placement over whatUseek Web Index results. The whatUseek Collection receives preferred placement of results over default web listings in The whatUseek Directory category listings.
